Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez has signed a new deal with the Spanish champions that runs to 2010.
The Mexico international returned from the World Cup in Germany this week following his side's last-16 defeat by Argentina and immediately turned his attention to club matters by extending his Barca contract by three years.
The Blaugrana were keen to tie the versatile 27-year-old down after his impressive performances at the World Cup.
Marquez moved to the Nou Camp from Monaco in 2003 and has proved himself adept in central defence or in a midfield holding role.
