Drogheda United have parted company with Scottish midfielder Paul Bernard. The former Scottish international has been with the club for the last two years but failed to hold down a first team place because of a series of niggling injuries.
Speaking on the departure of Bernard, Drogs manager Paul Doolin was disappointed that the big Scotsman failed to make the expected impact on the eircom League.
Doolin said: 'Paul brought a wealth of experience to what is a very young squad at Drogheda and we are all disappointed that Paul is leaving to go back to England.'
Paul Bernard has two full caps for Scotland, 16 Under-21 and two B international appearances two his credit.
'Bernie' was Aberdeen's record signing (€1m+) from Oldham Athletic in 1995 and moved to United Park from Scottish club St Johnstone.
