Crouch promotes his Owen partnership

Peter Crouch has urged England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson to have faith in his World Cup partnership with Michael Owen.

Crouch is in hot form, with two goals in his last two England internationals, and hopes Eriksson will revert to a 4-4-2 formation against Jamaica at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The Liverpool striker has come off the bench to score against both Uruguay and Hungary. In his previous England appearance, he came on to help the team fight back from behind to beat Argentina 3-2.

Crouch said: "I feel as confident as I've ever been in my life. I can't wait for the next game, coming off the back of the last game. Hopefully I can play some part."

Owen and Crouch have a successful record when they have linked up together in their little and large combination.

But Eriksson likes the idea of using his big target man as a late substitute.

The England boss seems keen to play in some of the tighter games with five midfielders and Owen on his own up front.

Crouch said: "Me and Michael have played together before and it's worked well.

"The first time was in the US and he managed to get a hat-trick, then I came off the bench and linked up with him again.

"If the manager chooses to play us together, it would be great for me because it means I'm in the team, but it would be great for Michael as well.

"He's a top-class player and I'm sure he's going to get goals in the World Cup. I'll try and weigh in with my share as well."
