Derry City set themselves up for a place in the next round of the FAI Carlsberg Cup when they scored two goals in the opening seven minutes against Munster Senior League side Blarney at O'Shea Park.
Ciaran Martyn shot the visitors in front after two minutes with Mark Farren beating the offside trap five minutes later.
But the gutsy Intermediate Cup finalists Blarney fought back with a Stephen Jennings penalty just before the break.
However Stephen Kenny's side confirmed victory also from the penalty spot when Farren scored his second and Derry's third six minutes from time.
