Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Staunton has announced that Liam Miller has been included in the Irish starting line-up for tonight’s friendly international against Chile after Steve Finnan failed a late fitness test this morning.
Staunton commented: 'Steve suffered a slight reaction after training in the Algarve yesterday morning, obviously we are disappointed but Liam (Miller) has had a great season so far and I have no doubt that he will relish this opportunity to start in tonight’s game against Chile.'
Miller scored his first goal for Ireland in a international friendly against Sweden in Lansdowne Road on 1 March. It was a fine effort from the Corkman, who picked the ball up on the halfway line and headed for goal to let loose a from 25 yards.
