Derry City have completed the signing of former Carlisle United and Portadown player Darren Kelly.

This will be Darren's second spell with the Club. Darren signed for Carlisle United from Derry City FC in August 2002 for a fee of £100,000 but left the club when they were relegated to the Vauxhall Conference.

Commenting today, Kelly said: "I’m delighted to be back playing for my home town club. I’ve watched the team improve steadily under Stephen Kenny and am just looking forward to working hard to try to get my place on the team."

Club Chairman Hugh Mc Daid said: "It’s great to have Darren back. He’s a quality player from Derry and he will be a great addition to Stephen Kenny's squad."

Kelly, who was the target of quite a few eircom League and Irish League clubs, will not be able to play competitive football for Derry City until the transfer window opens on 1st July.

However Kelly will be lining out for Derry City in a friendly match at the Brandywell on Tuesday night when the club play hosts to Castlebar Celtic who are managed by former City player and manager Gavin Dykes.
