Wesley Charles’ first goal in over a year helped beleaguered Bray Wanderers to a 1-0 win over fellow-strugglers Longford Town in the eircom Premier League.
The victory lifted Bray off the bottom of the eircom League Premier Division table and ended the Wicklow side’s six-game search for a goal after 538 minutes of action.
With ten minutes remaining at the Carlisle Grounds, David Tyrrell swept in a deep right-wing corner.
Brian McGovern challenged at the far post and St Vincent and Grenadines international Charles reacted to fire the ball into the roof of the net.
Longford, without an away game since November 2005, were twice denied by the excellent Chris O’Connor as he thwarted Dessie Baker and Andy Myler.
