Roy Keane's testimonial between Manchester United and Celtic last night attracted a huge viewership and the highest audience figures for a testimonial game for RTÉ Sport.

460,000* people tuned in to RTÉ TWO for the match with a massive audience peak of 711,000 for the final minutes of the game, which saw United beat Celtic 1-0 in front of almost 70,000 at Old Trafford.

The match generated an audience share of 37.2% for RTÉ TWO, which peaked at 52.1% during the game. This resulted in an audience share of 65.1% for RTÉ across both channels.

Glen Killane, RTÉ Head of TV Sport, said: 'We are committed to bringing these major events free to air to our audience and are delighted that so many viewers tuned in for this memorable match.'

Highlights of the match on the RTÉ website have attracted more than 8,000 visitors thus far.                                       

This package, which is only available to Irish ISP users, includes all of last night's coverage on RTÉ TWO and has an exclusive post-match interview between Darragh Maloney and Keane.
