Shelbourne booked their place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup with a 1-0 victory over Dublin City but it came at a price as Alan Moore's injury jinx struck again.
Vikings’ bright start counted for little as Derek Pender headed an own goal after Sean Dillon knocked Moore’s corner back across goal after 16 minutes.
Ex-Irish international Moore had earlier fired a terrific free kick inches wide of Rogers' left hand post as Shels took command to run the rest of the first half.
Substitute Gavin McDonnell and Ger McCarthy were well off target with efforts for Vikings early in the second half before Shels resumed their grip on the game.
Another Moore corner should have increased their lead on 54 minutes, but Colin Hawkins volley over from yards out for what was a bit of a sitter.
But Moore, only recently back from a groin injury, played no further part in the game form the hour mark as he was taken off on a stretcher after suffering suspected ankle ligament damage.
