England centre-back Ledley King has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him at Tottenham Hotspur until 2010.
The 25-year-old club captain is currently facing a race-aganinst-time to be fit for next month's World Cup in Germany from June 9-July 9 after breaking his metatarsal.
King broke his foot in an English Premiership match at Everton in April but at the time his manager Martin Jol said it was only a minor fracture and predicted the centre-back would be fit again by the end of the first week in May.
"The new deal has taken a while to sort out, but there was never any question about me staying," King said.
"I want to continue captaining this club in what is hopefully going to be a very successful period."
Tottenham are currently in a battle with north London rivals Arsenal to claim fourth place in the Premiership and take the last Champions League spot for next season.
Arsenal, however, can make that race academic if they win the Champions League final against Barcelona on May 17, claiming England's fourth place by that avenue instead.
