Goals from Barry Ferguson and Vinny Arkins got the Gypsies out of jail at Dalymount Park as they edged past Dublin rivals UCD, winning 2-1.
Bohs, who came into this game with just seven points from seven games, got off to the worst possible start when UCD took the lead on eight minutes.
A diagonal ball out of the visitors defence caught the Bohemians defence napping, and just when it seemed that Pat McWalter was clean through on goal Barry Ferguson intercepted.
A free-kick was awarded against Ferguson before UCD’s Alan Cawley cracked a glorious in-swinger to the Bohs net.
Stung by the concession of that early goal, Bohemians upped the ante however they continued to look a little brittle at the back.
The home side had a couple of half chances from corner kicks, but an over-hit Stephen Rice header after a cross from Fergal Harkin was about as close as Bohs came to scoring.
At the other end Alan Mahon found Connor Sammon in acres of space in behind the Bohs defence, however Sammon powered the ball over the crossbar.
If UCD were hardly inspiring in the first half, Bohemians were no more than average, but even so they ought to have opened their account on 34 minutes.
Fergal Harkin played John Paul Kelly in space down the left wing and his low drive was directed goal ward by Tony Grant, only for Darragh Ryan to hack the ball to safety.
Arkins and Harkin both went close for Bohs early in the second half before they levelled affairs through Vinny Arkins.
Stephen Rice provided the cross for Arkins 76th minute goal, and then Barry Ferguson glanced a Gareth Farrelly cross home with 12 minutes left.
