Rafael Benitez is still hoping to claim second place in the Premiership

Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko will be back in the firing line after being omitted from the PFA young footballer of the year nominations, to manager Rafa Benitez' surprise.

Benitez's only injury problems involve young centre back Daniel Agger with a muscle strain, while Bolo Zenden will now be rested until pre-season training to allow him to complete a recovery from knee surgery.

Liverpool provisional squad: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Traore, Warnock, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Sissoko, Hamann, Alonso, Kewell, Crouch, Fowler, Cisse, Morientes, Kromkamp, Dudek.

Blackburn's on-loan striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle is ineligible to play against Liverpool, while midfielder Tugay is also doubtful with a calf injury.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes is expected to keep a settled side but Shefki Kuqi may come in for Paul Dickov up front.

Provisional squad: Friedel, Enckelman, Neill, Nelsen, Pedersen, Reid, Gray, Savage, Todd, Khizanishvili, Bentley, Kuqi, Emerton, Dickov, Bellamy, Mokoena, Matteo, Peter.
