Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall has moved to clarify his future following reports that he is set to quit Parkhead.
Marshall, 22, fell out of favour following disastrous matches against Artmedia Bratislava and Motherwell at the start of the season and has since struggled to dislodge Artur Boruc from the side.
But he has dismissed press reports claiming he is unhappy with life at Celtic.
"I was angry and disappointed to read the comments and headlines that were attributed to me in today's papers," said Marshall.
"I never said at any point that I wanted to leave Celtic or that I was 'too good to be on the bench'.
"I would never say that because I know exactly how hard it is to earn your place on the bench at this club, let alone get a game in the first team.
"Nor have I ever gone to the manager and demanded a place in the team."
Celtic claim Marshall has the backing of manager Gordon Strachan and the goalkeeper is hoping he will feature again before the end of the season.
He told the club's official website: "There's been no bother with the manager, he knows my feelings and it's not a problem.
"I played at the weekend against Kilmarnock and that was great for me and hopefully I will get another few games before the end of the season. Then next season we'll see what happens.
"I want to stay at Celtic Football Club and work as hard as I possibly can to try to get back into the team."
