Striker Derek McCarthy struck the only goal of the game as Limerick recorded a hard fought 1-0 victory over Cobh Ramblers at Hogan Park.
McCarthy drilled home from close range in the 57th minute on a night when the Shannonsiders forced ten corners.
Ken Kiely and Paul Rose both went close for the home side in the opening fifteen minutes with Rose seeing his effort cleared off the line after a sustained period of pressure.
Willie Bruton's speed up front was a worry for the hosts however, and Blues keeper Noel Mooney had to be alert to keep out the pacy Ramblers striker just past the hour mark.
