Roy Keane believes Jimmy Johnstone was one of the few real footballing superstars.
The Celtic midfielder was saddened to hear of the death of the Lisbon Lion and paid his own tribute.
Keane said: "Players are rewarded too quickly, me included. People like Jimmy Johnstone, they're proper players.
"I met him a few times at Celtic Park and he was a great man.
"I saw the DVD about him recently - Lord of the Wing – and really enjoyed it.
"So many young players now are different though. The clubs have a lot to answer for as they reward them too quickly."
He added: "I remember when I was under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest. I was rewarded after playing well for three years, not three months.
"These days a lot of players believe they're superstars before they actually are."
