Ghana prevail in stormy Port Said affair

An early goal from Bundesliga-bound striker Mathew Amoah revived Ghana's hopes at the African Nations Cup when they overcame Senegal 1-0 in Port Said.

Amoah, who joins Borussia Dortmund after the tournament in Egypt, scored from a tight angle after 13 minutes to hand the World Cup finalists their first points of the tournament.

Both sides had a player sent off - Laryea Kingston of Ghana and Senegal full-back Habib Beye - after a mass brawl in the centre of the pitch midway through the second half.

Ghana endured a tense final period of pressure from Senegal, who squandered several opportunities to equalise.
