Celtic defender Didier Agathe has revealed that he is desperate to leave the Scottish club in a bid to revive his career.

The 30-year-old has made just four appearances as a substitute since Gordan Strachan took over from Martin O'Neill at the club and is now training apart from the rest of the squad.

Agathe has rejected claims from Strachan that he is injured and said: "My regret is that Strachan never gave me a chance. He always said that I was injured. That is wrong.

"The supporters do not understand and neither does the Press. I can assure everybody that I am in great shape. This has been the worst of seasons and my dearest wish is to leave as quickly as possible. I cannot stay here another six months."

He added: "What annoys me is that Celtic do not make it easy for me. I have remained quiet. I have never made any comments to the Press and how do they thank me? By putting a stick in the wheel.

"Since being moved away from the group, I have trained alone and I do a little in the gym to keep my form. I hope I shall be able to make it elsewhere shortly."
