McGrath leaves Limerick

Former Aston Villa central defender John McGrath has quit Limerick FC just three months after he had joined them.

He has returned to England where he is being linked with Wycombe Wanderers.

McGrath, a native of Monagea, county Limerick, and a former Ireland youths and under 21 international, joined the Shannonsiders in a late but unsuccessful bid to win promotion to the Premier Division.

Limerick have also lost the services of top marksman CP O’Brien to fellow First Division outfit Cobh Ramblers.

Meanwhile, Premier Division Shelbourne have arranged a visit to Hogan Park in a pre-season friendly on Jan 28.
