After a poor start Alex McLeish is begining to turn Rangers' season around

Rangers manager Alex McLeish has revealed Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan and Steven Thompson could be heading through the Ibrox exit door during the January transfer window.

McLeish admitted Rangers will listen to offers for the pair who have failed to hold down regular first-team slots this season.

French defender Pierre-Fanfan arrived during the summer on a Bosman from Paris Saint-Germain but has spent the majority of the campaign on the bench having fallen behind Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Marvin Andrews and Julien Rodriguez in the defensive pecking order.

And despite Federico Nieto and Francis Jeffers departing in January after unsuccessful loan spells, Thompson, whose contract expires in the summer, could also be on his way following the arrival of Kris Boyd and the rejuvenation of Peter Lovenkrands as a striker.

McLeish said: “It's tough for the strikers like Tommo who are not starting the games but we need a squad. If it came to the end of January and there were people interested then we would listen.

“But I am in no hurry to get rid of him. I think Tommo would look at the situation and ask where he is in the pecking order.”
