Derry City manager Stephen Kenny has committed his future to the Candystripes by signing a new two-year extension to his contract with the club.

Kenny’s improved deal is reward for a season in which Derry won the League Cup and were just pipped by Cork City for the eircom League title.

The Derry manager was delighted to sign the deal and said: “The negotiations didn’t exactly take very long.

“They came to me and said they’d like to work something out for the longer term and I was very happy to do that.”

“I’ve been very well treated by everyone here and I was delighted with the way they handled this. It’s good news for me to be honest.”

The Candystripes were also boosted by the news that they have signed former Bohemians’ defender Ken Oman on a two-year deal.
