Wigan manager Paul Jewell is again likely to be without Josip Skoko, Stephane Henchoz and David Connolly for the Carling Cup quarter-final with Bolton at the JJB Stadium.
The trio all missed Saturday's 3-0 Barclays Premiership victory at home to Charlton with groin, dead leg and Achilles injuries respectively and are rated doubtful for the clash with Wanderers.
The Carling Cup has been Jewell's opportunity to change his line-up and he will again bring in those players who have so far been on the fringes of the first team.
Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim is available and full-back Ricardo Gardner could also come into contention following a hamstring strain which forced him to miss the victory over Everton at the weekend.
Manager Sam Allardyce, who plans to make a number of changes, said: “There has been a tremendous effort from the players and some of them will be rested for the cup match.”
