Chelsea will face a rematch against Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The two draws for the Champions League knockout round were made on Friday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.

Barca won the Primera Liga title but where beaten by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in a bad tempered encounter at the first knockout stage last season.

Mourinho was forced to serve a two game touchline ban after he accused Barca coach Frank Rijkaard of meeting with the referee in the official's dressing room at half-time of the first leg.

Arsenal will face Real Madrid in their last 16 tie, with the first leg to be played at the Bernabeu.

It means an English match-up for David Beckham and co, while Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, recently linked with the coaching job at Real, will be able to give them a first-hand glimpse of his tactical nous.

European champions Liverpool will face Benfica, conquerors of Manchester United, in the last 16.

The Lisbon side beat the Red Devils 2-1 in their final group match, a result which meant United failed to even finish third and qualify for the UEFA Cup.

The first leg will be played at the Stadium of Light in the Portuguese capital.
