The FAI have teamed up with The Star newspaper for the inaugural 'The Star/FAI Cup Silver Jubilee Team' which is to be awarded to the Waterford team which defeated St Patrick's Athletic 1-0 in the 1980 Cup final courtesy of a goal from full back, Brian Gardiner.
As well as receiving a memento of the occasion, the team will be introduced to the crowd at tomorrow’s FAI Cup final at Lansdowne Road.
The Waterford team, which was managed by Tommy Jackson, featured Peter Thomas, Tony Dunphy, Mark Meagan and Al Finucane.
