The Republic of Ireland will play Sweden and the Netherlands at Lansdowne Road in preparation for the Euro 2008 Qualifiers, which begin in the autumn of next year.

Sweden who visit on Wednesday 1 March and will be followed by Holland on 16 August.

Sweden, who are currently ranked 14th in the latest FIFA Rankings and have qualified for Germany 2006, last visited these shores for a friendly in April 1999 and were beaten 2-0.

Ireland last played the Dutch in a friendly in the Amsterdam ArenA in June of last year when a Robbie Keane wonder strike earned the Irish the victory and earned the Spurs striker the FAI/eircom International Goal of the Season Award. Few will forget that memorable day in September 2001 when a Jason McAteer super goal fired the Irish into World Cup 2002.

The Dutch are currently ranked 3rd in the FIFA Rankings and they too have qualified for Germany 2006.

In the event of either Netherlands or Ireland having a competitive match on 16 August or if both teams are drawn in the same Euro 2008 Qualifying Group, then the friendly match will be rescheduled.

Ticket sales details for these friendlies will be announced in early January.
