Dundalk manager Jim Gannon confirmed his resignation from the club in the wake of their 0-0 draw with Cobh Ramblers on Thursday.

Gannon’s position had been called into question after the club’s vice-chairman Tom Baldwin and chief executive Sean Connolly both left the club.

The duo were big supporters of Gannon, and the manager claims he was attacked by remaining club officials in the local media in the wake of their departure.

Tommy Connolly has stepped in to take over on a temporary basis and will be in charge for the club’s final game of the season, away to Monaghan on Saturday.
