George O'Callaghan fancies Lansdowne Road for December 4

With the venue for this season’s FAI Carlsberg Cup final expected to be announced this afternoon, Cork City’s George O’Callaghan has said that Lansdowne Road would be a perfect choice.

Speaking to Red FM, O’Callaghan said: "I think a lot of the players would like to play at Lansdowne. A lot of the lads have not played there. It would be nice to play in a big stadium."

"There’s no doubt there would be a massive Cork City following. We don’t want it at Tolka. It’s too small It's not a great stadium either. It's not a patch on Turner's Cross."

Friday's penalty hero continued: "The FAI have messed it up there and they're going to have to sort it out."

Lansdowne Road and the RDS in Ballsbridge are the front runners at present to host the Cork City v Drogheda United clash on December 4.
