A last gasp penalty from George O'Callaghan saw Cork City book a place in the FAI Cup final and end Derry City's hopes of a treble with a 1-0 victory.
The game was in the second minute of stoppage time when Cork full back Danny Murphy floated a free kick into the Derry penalty area, the ball broke to Neale Fenn who was fouled by visiting substitute Stephen O'Flynn, who ironically was transfered from Turners Cross to the Brandywell during the close season.
Referee Damien Hancock pointed to the spot, and George O'Callaghan, with nerves of steel, blasted the ball gleefully past David Forde to send Cork through to a decider against Drogheda or Bray who meet on Sunday.
The result was hard of Derry who probably deserved a replay on the balance of play. The Candystripes had the better of the opening half on a truly dreadful pitch.
O'Callaghan went close after eight minutes when he blasted just wide of the post before Derry frontman Gary Beckett saw his goalbound shot block just a minute later.
Derry's Petter Hutton also went close to breaking the deadlock in the 37th minute when he forced a fine save out of Forde after getting on the end of a Kevin Deery corner.
Cork took control after the break and the Rebels went close on 55 minutes when Forde was forced to make a smart save to deny O'Callaghan's header.
Derry had a late chance through substitute Alan Murphy, but his shot was saved by Michael Devine, and the game looked certain to end in a draw before the referee pointed to the penalty spot for Cork.
