Stephen Fox's goal after 76 minutes saw Bray beat Waterford 1-0 and gave the home team a morale-boosting victory ahead of next week's FAI Cup semi-final away to Drogheda.
Fox charged down Kevin Doherty's attempted clearance and fired low into the net from 16 yards.
But Wanderers had to thank goalkeeper Chris O'Connor who pulled off four fantastic saves to record only his third clean sheet of the campaign.
He thwarted Doherty, Rodney Jack, Colm Heffernan and David Breen in a frantic first 15 minutes.
