Scotland manager Walter Smith has urged his players to regain their respectability by beating Slovenia tonight.

The national boss believes his players let themselves down on Saturday by slumping to a home defeat against Belarus, which ended their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup finals.

There is very little to play for in Slovenia but Smith realises their wounded pride is at stake.

"We are trying to get our respectability back again in this game," he admitted.

But the former Rangers and Everton boss is far from bothered about seedings for the European Championships.

Victory could see them ranked above Slovenia but Smith is more concerned with making amends for the weekend misery.

He added: "I am not saying seedings don't matter, but performances come first - that's the most important thing."
