Cyprus coach Angelos Anastassiades has upset players at league leaders Omonia Nicosia by not selecting them for the national side's final two World Cup group qualifying matches against Ireland and France.
Several Omonia players face disciplinary action after publicly criticising former Greek international Anastassiades for overlooking them for his 19-man squad for the matches, officials said.
Anastassiades will instead rely heavily on Greece-based players for next Saturday's group four match against Ireland in Nicosia and the trip to Paris four days later.
The squad includes veteran goalkeeper Nicos Panayiotou of Greek side Panachaiki, who returns to the national team after an absence of nearly three years.
Cyprus are fifth of the six teams in group four after losing six of their eight matches.
