Everton manager David Moyes is hoping his side can emulate their Merseyside rivals Liverpool in Europe and record a famous European victory against Dinamo Bucharest tomorrow.
The Toffees take on Dinamo aiming to overturn a 5-1 deficit in the second leg of their UEFA Cup first round match.
Given that only four sides in the 49-year history of European competition have managed to survive such a heavy first-leg loss, the odds are stacked against a club beaten in eight out of nine matches.
However Moyes takes strength from Liverpool's remarkable comeback against AC Milan last May to lift the Champions League trophy. "It is a big task but not an impossible one," said the Everton boss.
"Liverpool were 3-0 down with only 45 minutes to go. We have 90 minutes to get four goals back. We have to use that as an incentive to try to reduce the deficit. It is a situation where we are the underdogs. If we do come back it will be terrific night."
"Real Madrid were the last team to peg back a four-goal deficit when they knocked out Borussia Monchengladbach and went on to win the UEFA Cup in 1986. Moyes said: "I hope that is a good omen."
"We need to make sure the game does not get slowed down too often and Dinamo Bucharest are in good form at the moment. I don't think they will be complacent," he added.
