Derry City lifted the eircom League Cup for the sixth time in their history to keep their dreams of a treble very much alive as they beat UCD 2-1 before a packed Belfield.
Derry got off to the perfect start as Alan Murphy went on a mazy run past two defenders before firing low to the corner to give the Candystripes the lead after 14 minutes.
However, UCD fought back and deservedly drew level on 40 minutes when Conan Byrne punished a defensive error to drill a shot past David Forde.
Derry regained the lead a minute before the break when Pat McWalter was taken unawares from Killian Brennan's cross and shot the ball into his own net for an unfortunate winner.
