Manchester City chairman John Wardle wants Stuart Pearce to stay at Eastlands long past his current two-year contract, after the stunning start to his managerial career.
Although City's 13-match unbeaten run came to an end against Bolton on Sunday, Pearce has made a huge impression since taking over from Kevin Keegan in March.
Pearce dragged City within a missed penalty of a place in Europe and despite last weekend's setback, City remain in the Premiership's top five with 11 points from their opening six games.
Already there is talk Wardle may attempt to tie Pearce down for an extended period. But while that discussion may be wide of the mark just now, the City chief admits he does not want to see his manager going anywhere.
"It is too soon to talk about a new contract, but hopefully Stuart will carry on and on and on," said Wardle. "He has done a marvellous job since taking over from Kevin."
"The whole place is buzzing and people are talking about the club again. Stuart has impressed everyone with his attitude and the way he has got the team playing and long may that continue."
"There is definitely a feel-good factor about Manchester City just now and that is something for us all to celebrate," Wardle added.
