Longford score facile home win

Longford Town consolidated their position in the league with a 3-0 win over Waterford United at Flancare Park.

Dave Mooney opened the scoring with his first Longford goal in the final minute of the first half. Sean Prunty’s long ball found the striker just inside the penalty area and some fine footwork culminated with a clinical finish.

Longford continued to dominate all throughout the second half. They eventually extended their lead in the 68th minute when Sean Dillon fired home a gem from all of 30 yards out.

The small home attendance only had to wait one more minute for a third goal. This time Paul Keegan’s quick free set John Martin on his way and the midfielder was coolness personified as he slotted the ball past Holden.
