Mark Viduka is hoping to put his injury nightmare behind him and continue the form that saw him score two goals against Birmingham last night.

Since signing from Leed the Australian international has suffered from a string of injuries and until last night his only appearance in the first team since Christmas lasted just nine minutes.

Viduka is looking forward to forming a formidable strike partnership with Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink and Aiyegbeni Yakubu.

He said: "Now I would just love an injury-free run and I hope the worst is over. It was great to get a couple of goals at Birmingham and the second one has got to be one of my best - if not the best."

Skipper Gareth Southgate hailed his return and was full of praise for the ability that Viduka brings to the side. He said: "The way he keeps possession for us and allows people to make runs off of him is excellent. Particularly away from home, that is so important."
