A solitary strike from Declan O'Brien proved sufficient as Drogheda notched their first victory in seven games against lowly Waterford in the eircom Premier Division.
O'Brien struck after 37 minutes when Mark Leech's shot was saved by keeper Packie Holden and 'Fabio' shot home from close range.
The Boynsiders took a firm grip of the game in the second half and O'Brien should have had a hat-trick while sub Stuart Malcolm went close with a header.
