City ready for Galway test

Dublin City entertain Galway United at Richmond Park on Sunday but will have to do so without the services of central defender Ben Whelehan and striker Trevor Vaughan, both of whom miss out through suspension.

The Vikings go into this weekend's series of matches a point clear of Sligo Rovers but will need to be at their best to overcome an improved Galway United side.

The absence of Whelehan will be a significant loss to City who have been fairly watertight when Big Ben and manager's son Alan Keely have been paired together.

Aidan Lynch will slot in for Whelehan with Dave McGill a contender for defensive duties if Derek Pender doesn't shake off a nagging heel injury.

The blossoming of the Ray Scully - Paul Shiels midfield axis should see City provide plenty of ball to the likes of Robbie Collins and Dave Freeman.

City have been the most prolific scoring team in the division while also displaying the meanest defence and bookies Paddy Power indicate as much by making the Vikings 4/6 favourites with Galway at 7/2 and the draw available at 12/5.
