Harry Redknapp has played down reports linking him with a move for Irish international striker Clinton Morrison.

The Southampton manager admits he is looking to bring in at least three players before the transfer window closes.

But while unsettled Birmingham striker Morrison would be of interest to him, the former West Ham and Portsmouth boss claims Sheffield United are favourites to land the player.

"It is not easy to find quality strikers," said Redknapp. "Everyone is looking for them.

"We sold Peter Crouch for £7million and if you spend, say, £1million on a replacement then he will be a seventh as good.

"(Morrison) would be one we might look at but I think Sheffield United are preparing a big bid.

"I would not think anyone would pay the £2million reported in some papers but I think Sheffield United have made an offer."

Morrison is considering his future at St Andrews as he is likely to be behind Emile Heskey, Walter Pandiani and Mikael Forssell in the queue for a place in Steve Bruce's starting line-up.
