Juventus striker David Trezeguet has admitted he was not tempted by the prospect of joining Chelsea.

The 27-year-old French forward was reportedly the subject of a £38million bid from the Premiership champions earlier this summer but insists he is determined to add to his trophy haul with the Italian giants after claiming a third Scudetto in five years.

Trezeguet was hampered by injuries to his shoulder and right ankle last season and he is eager to repay the faith shown in him by coach Fabio Capello.

"I was in the United States on holiday and did not really follow Chelsea's interest in me," he said.

"If Chelsea were really ready to spend that amount of money then this is flattering."

Trezeguet is also eager to play alongside compatriot Patrick Vieira who joined Juventus from Arsenal this summer.

"With Pat's arrival the club is clearly showing their ambitions," Trezeguet added.

"We want to do well whether it's in Serie A or the Champions League. The year's objective is to win that competition.

"We have a very talented team and we must do all we can to reach that aim. The Champions League represents an exceptional level."
