Richard Dunne has reportedly broken a bone in his foot after intervening in an altercation between Manchester City team-mate Joey Barton and a 15-year-old Everton fan in a bar in Thailand.
Dunne stepped in when Barton struck the 15-year-old during an argument, and Barton rounded on this team-mate and the two had to be pulled apart.
According to the Irish Times, Dunne suffered a cut on his face, was bitten, and broke the bone kicking a door in frustration at having been dragged away from Barton.
City manager Stuart Pearce cleared Dunne, who is the club captain, of all blame, saying: “Richard Dunne's behaviour was exemplary.
“All I can say is I feel a little bit sorry for Richard Dunne for probably being tarred with the same brush.
“I want to make it quite clear that after our inquiries this morning Richard Dunne's got nothing to do with this, except as acting as a peacemaker in this situation.”
