400 Club attempt to purchase Rovers

The Shamrock Rovers 400 Club has made a formal bid to the Examiner to purchase of Shamrock Rovers FC.

The proposal would bring the gross investment in the examinership process from the 400 Club consortium to €500,000.

“We had informed the Examiner at the start of this process and had tabled our ‘expression of interest’ but were out-bid by a UK-based group,’’ says 400 Club chair Jonathan Roche.

“Every indication was that the Milseon/Quigley deal would go through but once that offer was withdrawn we knew we had to act - and act quickly.

“Having explored all options and discussed the matter with our legal representatives, we have put a realistic package on the table that can see Rovers out of Examinership, and bring much-needed stability to the club.

“We are also confident that the business plan we have put together offers a viable way forward for Shamrock Rovers as a professionally-run, members-owned entity.’’

Since the start of the Examinership in April, the 400 Club has funded the day-to-day running of Rovers and has so far contributed more than €165,000 to the process.

The 400 Club has also had talks with the SDCC confirming stadium tenancy details for Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght and met with Fingal County Council to secure Morton Stadium while Tallaght is being completed.
