Figo's future could lie in the Gulf

Qatar club Al Rayyan claim to be in a bidding war with Liverpool for Real Madrid's Luis Figo.

Portuguese international Figo has spent five years at Real since a £37million move from Barcelona.

The 32-year-old has expressed an interest in playing in the Barclays Premiership and Far East side Al Rayyan claim European Champions Liverpool want him.

But Liverpool have not matched Al Rayyan's wages offer according to the Qatar club's president, Ali Al Noaimi, who told the Daily Star: "We want Figo and we know about the offer from Liverpool but we are able to offer much more money."
