Eircom League champions Shelbourne will not meet European Champions Liverpool in next month’s first qualifying round.
Last season’s good performances by Shels means that the Reds will be one of the seeded teams in the draw in a fortnight. Liverpool will also be seeded and so they can not be paired.
However, Shels could meet Levadia Tallinn of Estonia, who knocked Bohemians out of the UEFA Cup last summer.
The draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday June 24.
