Brian Kerr has insisted second place is not an option as he still has his sights set on automatic qualification for next summer's World Cup finals.

Following Saturday's deflating 2-2 qualifying draw against Israel, the fight is on to make the top two in Group Four.

They still have their destiny in their hands, and they can at least ease matters with a win against the Faroe Islands in Torshavn tomorrow night, but letting slip a two-goal lead to the Israelis has only increased the pressure.

As far as Kerr is concerned, nothing less than staying focused on winning the group will do.

Asked whether he would settle for the runners-up spot right now, he issued a defiant no.

He added: "There's still obvious disappointment within the team at Saturday's result, and some players might be particularly disappointed with their performances."

"But they were in good form in training yesterday when we also set the task for them, one which we talked about, and we will do so again today."

Kerr and his players will today train for the first time at Torsvollur, the national stadium in Torshavn.

However, the pitch is understood to be in such a poor state, Faroes coach Henrik Larsen opted not to train there himself yesterday and was instead forced into an hour-long ferry trip to Toftir, where his side lost 3-1 to Switzerland on Saturday.
