Freddie Ljungberg claims he wants to see signs of greater ambition before committing himself to a new deal with Arsenal.
The Swedish midfielder spoke out about his frustration with the current situation at Highbury while on international duty.
The 28-year-old's comments come as the club look poised to lose the services of full-back Ashley Cole following the `tapping-up' scandal involving Chelsea.
"I won't re-sign if the club's ambition does not match mine," said Ljungberg in the Sunday Express.
"The biggest thing is the Champions League trophy, but I can't see how we can achieve that if we are relying on bringing in 18 and 19-year-olds, then expecting them to play 30 matches at the top level. What I'm saying is not about money - it's about ambition."
