Pardew planning for Premiership life

West Ham manager Alan Pardew has already started planning for life in the Premiership following their victory in the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final against Preston.

Bobby Zamora's second-half strike at the Millennium Stadium fired the Hammers back into the top flight after a two-year absence from the Premiership.

And Pardew, whose side suffered the heartache of losing out in the play-off final to Crystal Palace last season, revealed the search for players of Premiership quality is already under way.

"I have already lined up somebody to talk to this week because you have to prepare", said the former Reading boss.

"The window for us to sign players is smaller because of the play-offs, so it is not going to be much of a summer for me. In my mind there are some areas where we need to strengthen."

"The players are not stupid. They know I am going to have to bring in at least three or four new players."
