Northern Ireland goalkeeper Roy Carroll has been released by Manchester United, the club confirmed today.

It was widely believed Carroll was about to sign a new deal but instead he will be leaving Old Trafford.

Spanish goalkeeper Ricardo has also been shown the door along with six young professionals.
