Southampton's in-form striker Peter Crouch and Spurs midfielder Michael Carrick have been named in England's squad to tour the United States later this month.
Crouch, who has scored 12 league goals this season, has won six England under-21 caps.
Carrick last played for England in the August 2001 friendly against the Netherlands having made his debut against Mexico three months earlier.
Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney were left out at the request of their club manager Alex Ferguson.
While Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will also miss the trip due to their team's involvement in the Champions League final. The absentee list also includes John Terry, Frank Lampard, Kieron Dyer, Paul Robinson and Wayne Bridge.
With Rooney being rested and Emile Heskey excluded, Eriksson has therefore turned to the lanky figure of Crouch, as well as giving another chance to Andrew Johnson and a recall to Alan Smith.
Crouch's call-up is a welcome boost amid a difficult week, with Southampton facing the possibility of relegation, and the striker himself suspended for the final league game against Manchester United.
