Birmingham skipper Kenny Cunningham has praised his international team-mate Clinton Morrison, amid speculation that the striker could leave St Andrews in the summer.
Morrison has expressed his frustration at being relegated to fourth choice striker for the Blues' since the arrival of Walter Pandiani on loan in January from Deportivo La Coruna.
But the veteran central defender insisted Morrison is a 'big asset' and other aspects of his game help to make up for any perceived shortcomings in that department.
Cunningham said: " I am sure Clinton will tell you that his goals-per-game ratio is up there with the very best in an Ireland jersey. Clinton has been great for us and has scored some very important goals for us in this World Cup qualifying campaign."
"Hopefully that will continue - and I'm sure he'd like to translate that kind of goal ratio into his club football. However, his overall contribution to the team should not be under-estimated. Maybe he hasn't been as prolific as one or two people might have thought," he added.
"Clinton will miss opportunities but he will pick himself up and go again. He's not afraid to miss the target. That's the way it is with centre-forwards. You've got to keep getting into those goal-scoring positions."
"Clinton is very strong mentally and he'll keep going and I'm sure he'll be a big asset as he has been for the previous three years at Birmingham."
