Stuart Pearce should be handed the manager's role at Manchester City on a permanent basis.
That is the verdict of midfielder Joey Barton, who says he is echoing the thoughts of the squad.
Pearce, who has been handed the job until the end of the season, did his prospects of a long-term future at the club a power of good at the weekend when his team defeated Liverpool.
Barton said: "It is nice to come off the park getting something you deserve.
"Everyone in the changing room is not only happy for themselves and the team but happy for Pearcy.
"Everyone here wants him to get the job. People are beginning to sit up and taking notice. We are not an easy team to beat any more."
